Indianapolis Mother Says 13-Year-Old Daughter Snuck Out With Cousin While She Slept, Was Shot and Killed Shortly After
An Indianapolis mother is mourning the heartbreaking loss of her 13-year-old daughter, Andrea Eguia, who was shot and killed early Saturday morning after reportedly sneaking out of her home while her mother was asleep.
According to FOX59 reporter Max Lewis, Andrea’s mother, Molly Wingard, had just returned home from work early Saturday morning when she saw her daughter. After Wingard went to bed, Andrea reportedly snuck out of the house with her cousin.
About 20 minutes after leaving home, Andrea arrived at the Georgetown Apartments near 42nd Street and Sherman Drive on Indianapolis’ northeast side, where she was fatally shot.
Police found Andrea suffering from gunshot wounds shortly before 4 a.m. She was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition, where she later died.
Her devastated mother described Andrea as a sweet child who rarely gave her any trouble.
“She was just the sweetest little girl. She wasn’t a troublemaker. She didn’t give me any problems or anything like that I miss my baby,” Wingard told FOX59.
Authorities have released limited information about what led to the shooting, and no arrests had been reported in Lewis’s account.
Andrea was only 13 years old, with her entire life ahead of her. What started as an ordinary night at home ended in an unimaginable tragedy for her family.
Our condolences are with Andrea’s mother, loved ones, and everyone affected by this devastating loss.
